This year’s World Demolition Summit (WDS) was significant for a number of reasons:
- It was the first time the summit and the World Demolition Awards had been held in Canada
- It was attended by more female leaders and demolition experts from minority backgrounds than ever before
- Our World Demolition Awards received a record number of entries
- It was the first time a senior government minister attended the event
- It was our 15th anniversary!

The 14th World Demolition Summit (WDS) conference took part in Vienna, Austria as the events returned to Europe for the first time since 2018.
Delegates from countries including Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, New Zealand and the USA joined visitors from across the host continent for the two-day event, which started with a networking drinks reception and concluded with the World Demolition Awards gala dinner in the evening.

More than 50 projects and products from 36 companies emerged from a record number of entries to contest the 2021 World Demolition Awards in Chicago, USA.
As in recent years, the Urban category has been split into two sections due to the large volume of entries received. The New Entrant Award, now in its fifth year, was presented once again on the night, as was the overall “best of the best” World Demolition Award decided by the judges from the various winners.
