John Turp

Programme Manager and Chartered Civil Engineer at Nuclear Restoration Services (NRS)

John is a Programme Manager and Chartered Civil Engineer. His career started as a designer, working in a variety of sectors including Highways, Water and Ports. For the past 25 years John has been working in the nuclear industry, the majority of this with Nuclear Restoration Services (NRS), a wholly owned subsidiary of the UK Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA). He has led major projects and programmes in the UK decommissioning sector – leading teams to deliver safe retrievals and storage of nuclear waste across the 12 UK NRS sites.

John’s current role is leading the NRS reactor and radiological facilities decommissioning programme, dealing with the legacy of the UKs early research reactors and first-generation civil reactors. Whilst the programme is focused on the challenge of reactor decommissioning, there are numerous major remediation, structural change and demolition projects within the programme needing to be delivered over the next 25 years.

John is a passionate advocate of collaboration, working with stakeholders and the vast expertise in the supply chain to deliver on behalf of NRS and the NDA.
